Work in the courts, councils and judicial departments will officially resume this Wednesday, September 16, after the end of the judicial holiday that began last July 15, as all judges and prosecutors of the Republic will join their positions in accordance with the judicial formations and transfers made by the President of the Republic, the country’s first judge, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, last July.
Next Wednesday, the judicial family will assume its positions at the level of courts and councils, after the end of the judicial recess that lasted for two months, but during which it knew the minimum of deciding on the files presented to the justice system, especially those who were arrested, in accordance with the applicable criminal procedure law, while all cases involving non-arrested defendants from the category of misdemeanors and violations were postponed until the resumption of judicial work.
On the other hand, the specialized criminal poles continued to deal with the files, whether for investigation bodies or trial sessions. At the level of the economic and financial criminal pole, the latter continued its activity in combating corruption, through submissions, deposits, and investigations, similar to the files of “rigging and compromising the integrity of legislative elections,” as well as the scandal that affected the Algerian company of the National Tobacco Company with the Emirati company specializing in tobacco and sulfur, “Steam.” Corruption trials also continued at the level of the same judicial authority, such as Cases of “manipulation of the 750 eur travel grant.”
On the other hand, the judges of the branches of the economic and financial pole are awaiting wholesale trials in heavy corruption files, starting this Wednesday, September 15th, such as the “Importation and Currency Smuggling” case, and the file of “Minister Baraki and those who follow him in the 600 billion scandal,” which is scheduled for September 22nd, while on September 29th the pole will look into the corruption file that affected the Algerian Football Federation, where “Charafeddine Amara” will appear on trial. “Jahid Zifif” along with “Khairuddin Zatshi” in their capacity as former presidents of the “FAF”, in addition to other defendants, and the matter concerns a number of former officials and officials of the Federal Office who are currently in temporary detention.
It is expected that the new judicial year 2026/2027 will address and present many files related to the fires that took place in a number of states, as the investigations initiated by the security authorities resulted in the arrest of people suspected of involvement in setting them or contributing to them, as these cases will be the subject of follow-up before the competent judicial authorities, and there is great anticipation from public opinion to know their merits and the statements of the detainees during all stages of the investigation and until the trials are scheduled, and this comes in parallel with the launch of operations. For its part, the Algerian Judicial Council is resuming consideration of several files, such as the file of former ministers Abdel Wahid Tamar and Hamid Tamar, the fugitive from justice pursued in the privatization file and the sale of state property for a symbolic dinar, and other files.
In addition, the Supreme Court, in turn, resumes its judicial work, by adjudicating and issuing decisions regarding the files that were appealed to the various judicial councils spread across the country.
