The Ministry of Health announced the suspension of the practice licenses of two doctors, after monitoring a promotional clip in which they used their professional status and their kinship to gain public trust and promote the injection of an exosome product as a safe procedure.
The Ministry explained that the clip presented one of the two doctors undergoing injections at the hands of his brother as evidence of the quality and safety of the product, using the community’s trust in the health practitioner and the family relationship as an alternative to scientific evidence and regulatory accreditation.
She stressed that the safety and quality of health products are not proven by individual experiences or personal trust, but rather by scientific studies, quality and manufacturing requirements, product classification and approval for specific use by the competent authorities.
It indicated that the product used is intended, according to the instructions written on its packaging, for external use only, and that using it by injection violates its specific method of use, and that allowing it to be circulated externally does not permit its injection or the promotion of its safety in this way.
The violations included exploiting professional status in marketing, publishing unproven claims about quality and safety, using the product contrary to its instructions, and publishing commercial medical content that would mislead beneficiaries.
The Ministry indicated that these practices conflict with the provisions of the Law on the Practice of Health Professions, which prohibits the practice of treatment methods that are not scientifically recognized, and obliges the health practitioner to stay away from sensationalistic commercial propaganda methods that are not based on scientific foundations, and to adhere to accuracy and professional responsibility in what he publishes.
She stressed that the suspension decisions come to preserve the safety of the beneficiaries until the completion of the regulatory procedures, stressing that the professional capacity is a responsibility that may not be used to influence the public’s decisions or market products and procedures without reliable scientific and regulatory evidence, and called on the Ministry to report violating health practices through the “937” call center.
