Engineer Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, inspected cleanliness preparations in the capital, Manama, and visited a number of sites and funerals, as part of the ongoing preparations to welcome the Ashura season 1448 AH, and to review the readiness of the municipal services provided, in a way that contributes to providing the best services.
The field tour included a visit to a number of sites and main streets for processions and a number of funerals, in the presence of Engineer Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, Engineer Saleh Taher Tarada, Chairman of the Capital Municipality Council, Engineer Alia Yousef Yahya, Director General of the Capital Municipality, and Dr. Brigadier General Ammar Mustafa Al-Sayed, Deputy Governor of the Capital Governorate, along with a number of funeral heads and officials.
The Minister stressed that the visit comes in order to enhance the level of municipal services during the Ashura season, by intensifying public cleaning work and providing the necessary capabilities and cadres, to ensure maintaining public cleanliness and providing services with the required efficiency.
The main operations center for cleaning services was inaugurated in Manama during the Ashura season, which will supervise the progress of cleaning operations during the season, in addition to implementing awareness programs aimed at enhancing the importance of maintaining public cleanliness, establishing a culture of recycling, and encouraging sustainable environmental practices.
He explained that the Ministry’s plan for cleaning services in the capital, Manama, during the season includes allocating 300 cleaners, 12 inspectors for cleaning services, providing 300 waste containers, 250 trash cans, 7 trucks for transporting waste, and 10 containers designated for collecting plastic, in addition to 4 automatic sweeping machines, to ensure the speed of removing waste and maintaining the cleanliness of the sites and areas surrounding the funerals.
Minister Al-Mubarak also confirmed that the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, represented by the Capital Secretariat, will work during the season to promote the culture of recycling by distributing several waste recycling centers in the capital, in addition to intensifying awareness programs in partnership with various segments of society.
He pointed out that the Ministry continues to coordinate with the concerned authorities and those in charge of funerals, in a way that contributes to providing the best municipal services, stressing the importance of community partnership and spreading environmental awareness to maintain public cleanliness.
For their part, the heads of the funerals included in the visit expressed their deep thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, appreciating the efforts made by the government to provide various necessary services and capabilities, thus contributing to the success of the Ashura season 1448 AH and providing the best services to participants in commemorating the occasion.
