Germany won a big victory over Curacao 7:1 in the first round of Group E at the Men’s World Cup at NRG Stadium in Houston, USA today.
The Germans therefore have three points, while Curacao has no points, while Ivory Coast and Ecuador meet in the second match of Group E at 11pm tonight.
It only took the Germans six minutes to get over. Felix Nmecha then scored with a great shot after a nice combination with Florian Wirtz.
But Curacao leveled the scores with a fun goal and it was Livano Comenencia who scored Curacao’s first goal at a World Cup.
The ball bounced to Jurgen Locadia, who was stopped by Germany’s defenders, but the ball then fell to Comenencia’s feet in the box and his shot deflected off Joshua Kimmich and into the blue corner.
The Germans regained the lead in the 38th minute when Nico Schlotterbeck headed in Nathaniel Brown’s corner kick.
Kai Havertz scored the third goal from the penalty spot five minutes into the first half.
The Germans started the second half with great energy and Jamal Musiala had already scored after only 68 seconds. He then delivered the ball nicely past Curaco’s goalkeeper Eloy Room from a rather narrow position.
Nathaniel Brown then scored the fifth goal in the 68th minute after a nice pass from substitute Deniz Undav.
Undav then scored the sixth goal himself ten minutes later when the Curacao defense galloped. Florian Wirtz passed the ball for the goal to Joshua Kimmich, who then passed the ball to Undav, who scored from close range.
Kai Havertz scored the winner when he broke through the Curacao defense two minutes before the end of the game and tipped the ball over Room.
