The Kachin State Government is implementing a plan to reduce electricity and water shortages for residents during the two-week maintenance period of the Chipwenge Hydropower Plant, the state’s main source of electricity.
Yesterday, electricity charging services were provided at the Electricity Supply Enterprise and Ward Administration Offices in Myitkyina.
Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan, along with state ministers and departmental officials, inspected the provision of charging services for electric motorcycles, mobile phones, power banks, and rechargeable light bulbs, as well as the conditions of residents receiving services and charging electricity.
In addition, they visited urban neighbourhood administration offices to inspect the arrangements for charging electricity using generators at these offices, and held a cordial meeting with neighbourhood administrators, administrative members, auxiliary fire brigade members, and security teams.
Subsequently, the chief minister provided 18 8ft x 4ft sets of solar panels and 1,800W power stations to Ward Administration Offices. It was also reported that the chief minister coordinated with state-level departments to expand and adjust these electricity supply services based on public needs and usage. — Kachin State IPRD/TH
