Given the forecast of the arrival of the El Niño phenomenon at the end of August, the SEN intensifies preparations to respond to possible storms and floods. As part of the preventive plan, the institution will carry out a drill and coordinate actions with municipalities considered to be at higher risk.

The head of the SEN, Arsenio Zarateexplained that the institution is already carrying out a series of actions to strengthen the response capacity in the face of eventual storms that may affect citizens.
“We are going to carry out a drill on July 1 to see the effectiveness of our plan,” he said.
According to Zárate, the objective of the plan is to prepare the institution to intervene quickly and efficiently in case of emergencies caused by climate phenomena.

Coordination with vulnerable municipalities
As part of the preventive measures, the SEN holds meetings with municipal authorities located in areas with greater risk of flooding or overflowing of water channels, both in the Eastern Region and in the Chaco.
The head of the institution pointed out that these works seek to strengthen coordination between national and local authorities before the start of the period of greatest risk.

The greatest impact is expected from September
Zárate indicated that the SEN remains attentive to the entry of the El Niño phenomenon, expected for the end of August. However, he specified that, according to official forecasts, the most intense effects are expected from September, when greater rainfall and an increased risk of flooding could be recorded.
