An attempt to smuggle drugs on a particularly large scale was stopped in the Khatlon region of Tajikistan. The incident occurred on April 17, 2026 at about 00:50 on a section of the state border in the Farkhor region, the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan reported.
In a statement by the State Committee for National Security, posted on the website of NIAT “Khovar” It is noted that three citizens of Afghanistan illegally crossed the border and entered the country in the area of responsibility of military unit No. 0307 of the Border Troops.
“During the operational and combat activities, the security forces established the route of movement of the violators and took measures to detain them. The smugglers ignored the legal requirements of the border patrol and offered armed resistance.
As a result of the clash, two members of the criminal group were neutralized. The third participant managed to take advantage of the dark time of day and hide on the territory of Afghanistan,” the State Committee for National Security reports.
Kalashnikov assault rifles, 7.62 mm ammunition, a hunting rifle, and two bags with 25 bundles of narcotic substances were seized at the scene of the incident. According to the expert opinion, the seized substance is hashish with a total weight of 25 kilograms.
A criminal case has been initiated into the incident under a number of articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. An investigation is currently underway.
The State Committee for National Security noted that the situation on the state border remains stable and fully controlled.
