NEW PARTIAL AGREEMENT
In a new sub-agreement, Denmark will give Greenland Airports International around DKK 400 million. DKK over four years.
Tuesday is here concluded a partial agreement on a number of investments from Denmark in Greenland.

It is naalakkersuisoq for finance, Aqqaluaq B. Egede (IA), and finance minister Peter Hummelgaard, who have signed the agreement as part of the further development of the framework agreement on a self-supporting Greenland.
The specific amounts appear in the table below. 200 million is reserved here. DKK annually for the treatment of Greenlandic patients for the next three years. An agreement that was partially announced during the Danish Minister of Health’s recent visit to Nuuk.
In addition, a significant amount goes to Greenland Airports International, which owns and operates the airport in Nuuk and the upcoming new airport in Ilulissat. The Danish state is part owner of the company.

45 million is also set aside. DKK for an aid package for Greenlandic citizens. The money will be set aside this year, and the aid package must be seen as a temporary helping hand to the Greenlandic citizens who are financially most vulnerable. It is not elaborated further on how the distribution of the money will take place.
Water barrier zone in Ilulissat must be moved
Priority is also given to DKK 92 million. DKK to the supply area via the self-governed utility company Nukissiorfiit to contribute to a more up-to-date and robust energy infrastructure, as well as DKK 55 million. DKK for water supply projects in Ilulissat.
The agreement itself states that the 55 million DKK is to finance that the existing water barrier zone in Ilulissat is moved and narrowed in order to free up land for urban and business development.
– The funds must finance the initiation of investigations into a potential drinking water lake at Kangerluarsuup Qinngua with a view to a possible future expansion of the water supply, the agreement further states.
Finally, 20 million will be set aside. DKK for feasibility studies regarding a deep-water port in Qaqortoq and an airstrip in Ittoqqortoormiit. It appears from the agreement that the further process and financing of the projects will continue to be coordinated between relevant departments in Greenland and ministries in Denmark.

It has been a year since the chairman of Naalakkersuisut, Jens-Frederik Nielsen (D), and Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen signed a framework agreement to make Greenland self-supporting with 1.6 billion. DKK distributed over the years 2026 to 2029 inclusive.

“In the area of health, it is particularly important that with the agreement we have taken a step towards a lasting solution for Greenlandic patients in Denmark. It is also very positive that we also agree on the funding beyond 2030. Likewise, I see it as extremely satisfactory for both parties to the agreement that together we will follow up on the funding of the continued implementation of further measures in the framework agreement, so that this reflects the actual need.”
