The first passenger to check in luggage at the inauguration of Ilulissat’s new airport was unmistakable. It was member of Inatsisartut Ane Hansen (IA) who was the first to hand in her luggage.
– I am incredibly proud and very happy.
– We here in North Greenland have all been very much looking forward to the opening, because it gives us a direct route out of the country. I am really excited, says Ane Hansen to Sermitsiaq.
When you got in, did you think about trying to be the first to check in your luggage?
– When I arrived, I didn’t think that I would be the first to hand in luggage. But when I entered, I was really touched. In the middle of all the many happy people, it suddenly dawned on me that I was the first to hand in my luggage. How fantastic it is, she says.
Ane Hansen will take the first flight that takes off from Ilulissat airport. The plane will stay within Disko Bay and must land in the city where Ane Hansen comes from.
– I am very proud that Aasiaat will be the first city to be visited by a plane from the new airport when it is now inaugurated domestically, says Ane Hansen.
