From afar, Cayetana Guillén-Cuervo projects an image of serene elegance that could be interpreted as distance. Perhaps it is the natural result of a life spent between stages, cameras, cultural institutions and red carpets. However, just stop and listen to it for a few minutes to discover something very different. Behind that strong and impeccable presence there is a warm, close and human woman.
In the Xcaret Platinum Awards 2026 I had the opportunity to talk with her up close and I quickly understood that much of her strength comes from an inconspicuous but decisive quality: intuition. He greets with kindness, holds his gaze while listening and has that rare ability to make the person in front of him feel important. Smile naturally, use close human contact, and repeat your name during the conversation to create connection.
In it, experience is not perceived as weight or imposed authority; It manifests as light. Your presence inspires respectbut its simplicity ends up conquering. Perhaps that is why it has managed to remain current in the film and communication industry. He has managed to combine the firmness of his convictions with a sensitivity that he has not lost over the years.
Cayetana remembers that reputation is not sustained only by the public image, but by what remains when each person finds themselves again.
Pioneer
Cayetana belongs to a family linked to art. Daughter of actors Fernando Guillén and Gemma Cuervogrew up in an environment where acting was a natural part of life. However, his path was not limited to continuing a family inheritance. He studied Information Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid and built his own identity between acting, cultural journalism and institutional management.
For more than two decades at the head of Spanish Versionone of the most important film promotion spaces on Spanish Television, has accompanied the public in understanding cinema through intelligent and sensitive conversation.
In 2022, Cayetana made history by becoming the first woman to preside over the Academy of Performing Arts of Spain, an institution created to dignify, represent and make visible the crafts of theater, dance, music and interpretation. His arrival to office opened a symbolic door, but also marked the responsibility of broadening the view on who decides, represents and constructs the cultural narrative.
“It is important that women occupy decision-making positions,” she says. For her, the female leadership It is not just about reaching a position, but about exercising it with a broader, more inclusive vision connected to the different stages of life.
During our conversation, she spoke with special interest about the age of women and their place within the audiovisual industry. There was no complaint in his words, but rather a thoughtful look. In a context that for years has reduced female appreciation of youth, she champions experience, coherence, and the ability to sustain one’s focus.
“I don’t believe that a woman’s age is a limit. I see in each stage a sample of learning, an opportunity to demonstrate experience. Age leads us to have a firmer speech and develop the ability to listen to lead.”
Regarding the relationship between women, it refers to the urgent need to change old stories. “Women have begun to understand that we must support each other in every role and at every stage. I firmly believe that we must tear down negative discourse.”
His words have the weight of someone who has gone through different stages of public life without giving up his sensitivity. She speaks from her position as a mother, actress, communicator, cultural manager and institutional leader, because she understands that each role teaches something different.

to remember
In times where exposure seems to be confused with importance, it also leaves a valuable reflection on visibility and personal coherence.
“We must prevent excess visibility from weakening the depth of the contexts. When the stage lights go out you must be careful not to let yourself be overwhelmed by the applause, live each moment in its moment.”
Cayetana remembers that reputation is not sustained only by the public image, but by what remains when each person finds themselves again.
“I have learned to trust my intuition. To be more careful when choosing who is part of my team. A single toxic person can damage a path of years of sacrifice and dedication. Now I want honest and loyal people by my side, not perfect, but loyal,” he concludes.
A reflection that transcends the professional field, refers to leadership, but also to maturity, to human relationships and above all to the importance of knowing how to choose who accompanies us on the journey.
