The CARICOM Eminent Persons Group (EPG) says it remains actively engaged in monitoring developments in Haiti as the country’s political situation continues to evolve.
According to a statement from the Group, members have been maintaining regular virtual consultations with a broad cross-section of Haitian stakeholders. These discussions have included representatives from government, political organizations, and civil society groups as part of ongoing efforts to better understand the challenges facing the country.
The EPG noted that these engagements have allowed it to stay informed on current developments while gathering perspectives from key actors involved in Haiti’s political and social landscape.
However, the Group emphasized that direct engagement on the ground remains an important next step. Recognizing the value of gaining firsthand insight into the situation, members indicated that they intend to travel to Haiti as soon as practical.
The planned visit will provide an opportunity for the delegation to meet face-to-face with government officials, political leaders, and representatives of civil society. The discussions are expected to help the Group deepen its understanding of the issues confronting the country and further refine its assessment of the situation.
At the same time, the EPG continues to encourage Haitian stakeholders to work together in resolving the country’s challenges through dialogue and cooperation.
The group announced that preparations are underway for the visit, which will take place once arrangements can be finalized, allowing it to continue its engagement directly with key national stakeholders.
