As Chair of the Caribbean Community, Dr. Terrance Drew has issued a formal statement following the Twenty-Fifth Special Emergency Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM, convened on April 10, 2026.
During the meeting, regional leaders examined critical issues related to the governance and overall functioning of the Community, with particular attention given to leadership decisions and the need to preserve established regional processes. Clarification on recent developments was also provided, alongside a call for constructive dialogue, mutual respect, and strict adherence to internal mechanisms when addressing differences among Member States.
In addition, the Chair reaffirmed CARICOM’s commitment to deepening regional integration, warning against the impact of misunderstandings or misinformation on the Community’s progress. Emphasis was placed on the importance of unity as a guiding principle in advancing the shared interests of the Caribbean people.
