TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands, May 2, CMC – A delegation from St Vincent and the Grenadines is encouraging Vincentians living in this British Overseas territory to return home and invest, as part of a targeted mission to deepen diaspora engagement and boost economic activity.

The delegation, led by the Minister for Agriculture in St Vincent, Israel Bruce, arrived here with a clear message—reconnect with home and take advantage of emerging investment opportunities.
Speaking during an interview with the Executive Director of Invest SVG, Anna Young, said the initiative was driven by the significant Vincentian presence in the territory.
“We want to remind them that home is where the heart is… we want to say welcome home to them. We have a lot to offer,” Young said.
She emphasised that while many Vincentians have built successful lives abroad, opportunities continue to expand back home. “Wherever Vincentians are, they are Vincentians in St Vincent… and we want to remind them that home is waiting for them,” she added.
Bruce said the mission is designed to help nationals abroad turn their savings into meaningful investments in their homeland.
“This mission will address that fundamental question and give them an opportunity to own part of Hairouna,” Bruce said, using the country’s indigenous name.
He also expressed appreciation to the British Virgin Islands for providing opportunities to Vincentian workers over the years.
“The people of the British Virgin Islands have been very hospitable… and we are grateful for the opportunities created for many Vincentians,” he noted.
The minister identified agriculture as one of the key sectors for investment, pointing to strong regional demand for Caribbean-grown produce.
“The opportunities in agriculture are many… we are here as part of a mission to ensure that Vincentian food is on your shelves,” Bruce added.
Members of the delegation are also encouraging nationals to attend an upcoming investment forum, where detailed information on business opportunities will be shared.
“We encourage persons to come out and sit and speak with each and every one of us in terms of the opportunities that are available,” a representative said.
The outreach forms part of broader efforts to strengthen economic ties between the diaspora and St Vincent and the Grenadines, with a focus on creating an enabling environment for sustainable investment and growth.
