Shake-up at Amplia Communications as GM replaced

A lead­er­ship shake-up has tak­en place at Am­plia Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Lim­it­ed, with Gen­er­al Man­ag­er Shawn Clarke out and a new act­ing head now in place.

In a state­ment to Guardian Me­dia, the com­pa­ny con­firmed that Brid­get Rat­tan has been ap­point­ed Act­ing Gen­er­al Man­ag­er, ef­fec­tive last Thurs­day, fol­low­ing Clarke’s de­par­ture from the or­gan­i­sa­tion.

The com­pa­ny ac­knowl­edged Clarke’s con­tri­bu­tions and lead­er­ship dur­ing his tenure and wished him well in his fu­ture en­deav­ours.

Am­plia said that, un­der Rat­tan’s lead­er­ship, it will re­main fo­cused on main­tain­ing op­er­a­tional con­ti­nu­ity and de­liv­er­ing val­ue to its cus­tomers, em­ploy­ees and stake­hold­ers.

How­ev­er, Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands that Clarke was ter­mi­nat­ed with im­me­di­ate ef­fect last Wednes­day.

One source said that the de­ci­sion to ter­mi­nate Clarke, who has been with the com­pa­ny since 2024, was made by the board of the Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions Ser­vices of Trinidad and To­ba­go (TSTT), the par­ent com­pa­ny of Am­plia.

The cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing his de­par­ture have not been of­fi­cial­ly dis­closed by the com­pa­ny.

When con­tact­ed, Clarke said he had no com­ment on the mat­ter.

Pub­lic Util­i­ties Min­is­ter Bar­ry Padarath was al­so con­tact­ed on the is­sue, but up to press time, there was no re­sponse.

In his LinkedIn pro­file, Clarke de­scribes him­self as an ex­ec­u­tive leader with more than 12 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence span­ning gen­er­al man­age­ment, rev­enue strat­e­gy and an­a­lyt­ics, fo­cused on build­ing da­ta-dri­ven growth across telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions and mul­ti-mar­ket en­vi­ron­ments.

He high­lights a track record of de­liv­er­ing rev­enue growth, EBIT­DA (Earn­ings Be­fore In­ter­est, Tax­es, De­pre­ci­a­tion and Amor­ti­sa­tion) ex­pan­sion, and cus­tomer ex­pe­ri­ence im­prove­ments, com­bin­ing com­mer­cial strat­e­gy with an­a­lyt­ics and ex­e­cu­tion.

Among the re­sults cit­ed are a 43 per cent in­crease in EBIT­DA, 18 per cent rev­enue growth, 20 per cent sub­scriber ex­pan­sion, and a rise in av­er­age rev­enue per user from US$8 to US$26, dri­ven by port­fo­lio strat­e­gy, go-to-mar­ket ex­e­cu­tion and per­for­mance an­a­lyt­ics.
