Lisbon dressed in yellow to watch the Brazilian team’s debut in the World Cup this evening on June 13th. Football mixed with the arraiás of the Portuguese capital, with televisions tuned to the game on terraces, bars and restaurants and even at street parties. In the famous Arraial da Bica, the Brazilian anthem echoed and could be heard from far away.
At the football arena set up in Praça do Comérciothe space was small for the size of the crowd. Thousands of people watched the match, mainly Brazilian men and women wearing Seleção shirts and club shirts from various parts of the country. In the crowd there were also tourists of different nationalities, united by their passion for football.
The game against Morocco started with frustration for the Brazilian fans. The opponents opened the scoring in the 20th minute, with a goal from Ismael Saibari. About ten minutes later, Brazil equalized with a great goal from Vini Jr..

The first half ended in a draw, maintaining hope for a more combative return from the Brazilian team. After the break, the following minutes were played, but without goals.
With ten minutes added time, the mood became even more intense. Goalkeeper Alisson saved Brazil from defeat with two consecutive saves with just two minutes remaining. In the second half, unlike Morocco, the Brazilian team didn’t come close to scoring. The final score was 1×1.
At the end of the match, coach Carlos Lancelotti admitted that the team “has to improve”highlighting that the first half was bad. “It was a difficult game, against a difficult team,” he said.
Vini Jr., team captain, stated that, in the World Cup, “there is no easy game”. Regarding what needs to be improved, he mentioned possession of the ball and preparation for the next match.
Canarinha’s next game is scheduled for Saturday, June 20th. The time doesn’t help those watching from Portugal: 1:30 am. The team is in Group C of the World Cup.
