Guadalajara, Mexico.
Uruguay starred in one of the worst World Cups of its history and, after only adding two points, said goodbye to the tournament in the first round after losing tonight by the minimum against Spain.
A defeat that left very, very upset Marcelo Bielsa. The elimination seems to have affected him excessively in his already natural bad mood in front of the microphones.
The Uruguay coach got excited because the on-field interview was taking a long time to start and shouted at the professionals who were waiting to interview him.
“Give it at once!” he shouted. Bielsa to the journalists who were waiting to capture his impressions after the defeat. “I could not enhance the power of Uruguay“He said briefly, laconically and with obvious annoyance about why his team was quickly eliminated.
“I wanted Uruguay to have more presence in attack and I didn’t get it,” he added, perhaps to try to explain the lack of effectiveness of the Uruguayan team in the tournament, in which they only scored three goals.
In reference to the goalkeeper’s departure Fernando Muslera at the end of the first half, due to his complicity in the goal that ultimately gave Spain the victory, Bielsa He simply responded “nothing” when asked if he had spoken to the goalkeeper at halftime.
His mood did not improve when he left the field and he had another sharp response on DAZN when asked about Muslera’s change. “He decided to leave,” says Bielsa, who when asked said rudely with a sharp: “I already answered that.”
This has been the third World by Marcelo Bielsa, and the second in which the team he leads is eliminated in the first round, since in Korea-Japan 2002 he did it with Argentina.
His best performance was leading the Chilean team in South Africa 2010, where they advanced to the round of 16, a phase in which they lost 0-3 against Brazil.
