Several Bahamian collegiate track and field athletes delivered standout performances for their respective colleges and universities over the weekend, with some earning weekly honors.
Northwestern State University of Louisiana’s Tarajh Hudson was given the Southland Conference’s Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.
Hudson got the honor for a second consecutive week after his performance at the 2026 Louisiana State University (LSU) Alumni Gold Meet at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Hudson placed fourth overall in the men’s discus throw event, posting a measurement of 54.02 meters (m) — 177’ 3” — on his second attempt of the series. His distance was a top throw in the Southland Conference.
University of Mary sophomore Kenny Moxey Jr. had a record-breaking performance at the 2026 Drake Relays to come away with his first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Field Athlete of the Week honor.
Moxey competed in the men’s decathlon event and recorded a total of 7,086 points for a bronze medal position.
Moxey was sensational at the competition, setting new personal bests in the 100m (10.95 seconds), 400m (49.41 seconds), discus throw (35.26m — 115’ 8”), high jump (2.01m — 6’ 7”), and javelin throw (49.44m — 162’ 2”) events.
His third-place point total also broke the University of Mary’s former school record of 6,460 points, which was achieved in 1998.
The UMary sophomore is now ranked sixth overall in the nation and has a top total in the NSIC.
Bethel University sprinter Lamarr Williams was named the Crossroads League Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
Williams picked up a pair of first-place finishes in the men’s 100m and 200m finals at the 2026 Grand Valley State University (GSVU) Meet in Allendale, Michigan, over the weekend.
Williams, an Abaco native, won the 100m sprint in a wind-aided 10.22 seconds and the 200m final in 20.76 seconds.
His top finishes helped him to qualify for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Track and Field Championships.
Indiana Tech freshman K’Leigh Davis was selected as the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Davis was a part of Indiana Tech’s 4x100m relay team that ran a season’s best time of 46.23 seconds to win that event at the 2026 Mount Union Classic, hosted in Alliance, Ohio, over the weekend.
The relay quartet hit the NAIA ‘A’ standard and is currently ranked in the top 10 in the NAIA.
Davis also collected gold in the 100m final, running 11.95 seconds.
The collegiate outdoor track and field season continues this weekend at various venues around the United States.
