In the best spring weather, around 50 historic tractors gathered at the exhibition center in Schaan on Saturday. The Schaan Vintage Tractor Association, which currently has 22 members, invited people to this year’s meeting – and offered visitors an impressive picture of past decades of agriculture.
The highlight of the meeting was undoubtedly a Deutz D40L from the late 1950s. According to the owner, there are around 56 copies of this model left in the world – impressive evidence of how rare the lightweight version of the D40 is today. The D40L was manufactured between 1957 and 1963 and was the first tractor from Deutz with a three-cylinder engine. The air-cooled four-stroke engine with a displacement of 2,550 cubic centimeters produced between 35 and 38 hp, depending on the version – a solid working machine for the time that was used on many farms.
The Schaan Vintage Tractor Association maintains the heritage of historical agricultural technology with its 22 members. The annual meeting at the exhibition center has established itself as a regular meeting point for lovers of well-maintained tractors from the region and beyond. The variety of vehicles on display reflects the history of motorization in agriculture – from the first post-war models to the robust work machines of the 1970s.
