In Banat, Crisana, Maramureș, Transilvania, Moldova, Oltenia and Muntenia, a red heat wave code is in force until Tuesday morning. Meteorologists warn that the maximum temperatures will be between 35 and 41 degrees, with the highest values expected in Banat and Crișana.

The thermal discomfort will be particularly pronounced, and the temperature-humidity index will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. The night will be tropical, with minimum temperatures between 17 and 24 degrees.

Dobrogea is under code orange, where temperatures will reach 37-38 degrees in the continental part and 30-31 degrees on the coast and in the Danube Delta.

Thunderstorms, sleet, hail and heavy rain in the afternoon

Water quantities will reach 30-40 l/m2 locally.

Code orange for storms in 7 counties

ANM also issued an orange code of atmospheric instability for the counties of Hunedoara, Alba, Sibiu, Brașov, Mureș and Harghita, as well as for some mountainous areas.

    Dobrogea and Bărăgan

In Dobrogea and Bărăgan, the heat sets in from the first part of the day, and in the afternoon temperatures reach approximately 38 degrees. The atmosphere will be suffocating, while on the coast the maximum values will be around 30-33 degrees. Even if the temperatures are slightly lower than in the rest of the country, the high humidity will amplify the feeling of heat.

    Moldavia

Southern Moldova and northern Muntenia are experiencing some of the highest temperatures of the day, which can reach 40 degrees Celsius. The sky will remain more clear, and thermal discomfort will be very high.

Maximums of up to 38 degrees are forecast in northern Moldova and Bucovina. In the afternoon, storm clouds develop in the mountainous areas, with torrential showers, lightning and strong wind gusts.

Transylvania, Maramureș and the west of the country

Northern Transylvania and Maramureș will feel one of the most severe heatwave days this season. Temperatures of up to 41 degrees are forecast in Satu Mare.

In the west of the country, including Crisana and Banat, the maximum will reach around 40 degrees. In the evening, atmospheric instability increases, and especially in Crisana, torrential rains, whirlwinds and hail are expected. Locally, water quantities can exceed 30-40 liters per square meter.

And in the rest of Transylvania, the weather remains very warm, with temperatures up to 38 degrees in Târgu Mureș, but storms will occur in the afternoon.

    Oltenia and Muntenia

Oltenia remains under the influence of the severe heat wave, with temperatures of 39-40 degrees and a temperature-humidity index that exceeds the critical threshold.

The situation is similar in Muntenia, where in the Danube Meadow the maximums will reach 40 degrees. The night will remain very warm with lows of 22-23 degrees, which means another tropical night.

    Bucharest

The capital will have another hot day, with temperatures of around 39 degrees in the shade and increased thermal discomfort.

By nightfall, the sky will gradually cloud over, and the probability of showers and lightning will increase.

In the mountains and on the coast

In the mountains, the hot weather will be followed by strong storms already in the afternoon. Torrential showers, hail and wind intensifications are forecast. In the coming days, the temperatures will drop, but the rains will continue, and in some areas more than 50 liters of water per square meter can accumulate.

On the coast, the highs will reach 33 degrees on Tuesday, and the sea water temperature will be around 24 degrees. From Wednesday, the weather will cool slightly, and rain and wind intensification are expected in the evening. In the second part of the week, temperatures will remain around 29-30 degrees, with periods of atmospheric instability.

What will the weather be like in the next few days?

Starting Wednesday, temperatures will drop across most of the country. In Bucharest, the maximum will not exceed 31 degrees, but the weather will become unstable, with torrential rain, thunder, lightning and possibly blizzards.

On Thursday, temperatures will drop to 29 degrees, but atmospheric instability will continue, with showers in several regions and significant amounts of water.
