The delegation of the 2015 National Assembly reported that held a meeting with representatives of Human Rights Watch (HRW). At the meeting that took place this Sunday, September 20, they addressed the situation of human rights and political prisoners in Venezuela.
Through the social network X, AN 2015 reported on the meeting. “From the 2015 National Assembly delegation we met with representatives of Human Rights Watch (HRW),” they indicated.
At the same time, they specified that the space was used to address issues related to human rights and the political process in the country. “We share information about the human rights situation in Venezuela, the need for independence of powers and the demand for the full release of all political prisoners“, they detailed.
In this sense, they indicated that they agree with HRW on the importance of guaranteeing conditions for the exercise of freedoms in the country. “We agree that there is no democracy possible without respect for human dignity, the rule of law and real guarantees for the exercise of freedoms.“, they highlighted.
In addition, they mentioned that they will continue promoting these approaches in the political dialogue spaces they maintain with representatives of the national government. Likewise, they highlighted the importance of issues related to human rights, civil liberties and political prisoners having a central place in the conversations.
“We will continue working to ensure that these issues occupy a central place at the dialogue table,” concluded the 2015 National Assembly delegation.
