While UAE civil flights to and from Algiers Airport will continue until the end of the year

On Thursday evening, the Ministry of National Defense announced in a statement a decision to close Algeria’s airspace to all UAE civilian and military aircraft, starting this Friday.
The statement said: “Algeria decided to close its airspace, starting on September 11, 2026, to all aircraft numbered in the United Arab Emirates, both civil and military, coming and going.”
“This decision excludes UAE civil commercial flights coming to and from Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers, which will continue until the end of the decade, at the end of the current year 2026,” he added. Statement.
Earlier today, the Algerian Foreign Ministry issued a statement including “severing diplomatic relations with the UAE.” Its ambassador in Algeria was given 48 hours to comply with this decision.
The Foreign Ministry’s statement attributed the decision to sever relations with the UAE to “the increase in provocative or hostile actions issued by the state, and its persistence in these actions, which have reached limits to which it is no longer possible to consider them acceptable or tolerable, or to remain without a response.”
