Canada snatches a historic draw against Bosnia in the 2026 World Cup
The Canadian national team earned the first point in its history in the FIFA World Cup, following an exciting 1-1 draw with the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team on Friday evening, at the opening of the second group matches in the group stage of the World Cup, which is being held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
In the Canadian city of Toronto, the Bosnia and Herzegovina team scored through Jovo Lukic in the 21st minute, before Kyle Larin scored the equalizer for the Canadian team in the 78th minute.
With that result, Canada and Bosnia earned the first point in their career in the group, which also includes Qatar and Switzerland, who will meet on Saturday evening in the first round of the group as well.
The Canadian team will play its next match in the World Cup with its Qatari counterpart in the second round of the group, which will witness another confrontation between the teams of Switzerland and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Canadian national team had lost all six of its previous matches played in its previous two World Cup participations in 1986 and 2022 in Mexico and Qatar, respectively.
