Criminals apparently took advantage of the fact that security at the Silvio Pettirossi airport was relaxed after the defeat of Albirroja to enter the cargo warehouses and steal 14 boxes containing electronic products that had recently arrived from Miami, United States, and that were to be removed on the morning of this Monday, June 15.
The report prepared by the Police on the robbery confirms that around 01:00 this morning, Carlos Alberto Sandoval (44)in charge of warehouse C1, carried out a routine check in the area and, during his verification, he noticed that the padlock of warehouse C3 was lying on the ground, so he checked the lock and confirmed that it was open.
Then, upon entering the air cargo sector, he was able to confirm that a large box, measuring one meter and twenty centimeters by one and a half meters, was open and that 14 other smaller boxes, which would contain electronic products, were stolen from inside. However, he could not specify what specific merchandise they were dealing with, since at that time the person in charge of the place was supposedly not there.

However, the agents indicated that the stolen items would be high-end cell phones and a very well-known brand with a lot of demand both in the local market and in the Brazilwhere these stolen products generally end up.
After the incident was reported, members of different Police units arrived at the site, collected some evidence and confirmed that the place has security cameras whose images will be requested over the course of these days.
Those responsible for the place confirmed that the stolen cargo recently arrived from the city of Miami, United States and that it had to be removed by the owner on Monday morning. The criminals knew perfectly well the place where the product was stored and the time when the area was going to be completely unprotected to attack.
Presumably the criminals arrived at the location aboard a vehicle and entered the air cargo warehouse area, broke the lock on the door, opened the large box and took the products, without being detected.
Criminals were well informed
Given that the person in charge of the place was not there or could not be located by his own colleagues or superiors, the Police, so far cannot confirm what the thieves took.

According to those involved, the criminals had privileged information and the inattention of those in charge of security at the country’s main air terminal.
