Within the framework of the control operations carried out in the downtown area of Asunción, by the Albirroja party, the Third Police Station arrested two people and detained at least 15. A woman is at the disposal of the prosecutor for attacking a non-commissioned officer and a young man was arrested for carrying a replica firearm.
The Third Police Station of Asunción reported that the controls were carried out in the areas with the highest concentration of fans, especially around Palma Street and other points in the downtown area. The objective was to prevent criminal acts and avoid extortion by car guards.
One of the procedures led to the arrest of Angel Rodrigo Villordo Torres21 years old, who has no police record. According to the report, the young man was in a suspicious attitude at the intersection between Alberdi and 14 de Mayo.

During the verification, the agents found in his possession a replica firearm and G. 2,500,000 in cash. The intervening commissioner indicated that the detainee stated that the pistol was “for his personal use.” Both the suspect and the evidence were made available to the Public Ministry.

Woman arrested for attacking a non-commissioned officer
In another procedure, the Police detained several people who posed as car attendants, to prevent them from extorting money from the fans. Among them was Adriana Soledad Marin Cabrera36 years old, located on 15 de Agosto almost Estrella.

According to the police report, when the officers tried to identify her and remove her from the scene, the woman reacted violently and physically attacked assistant non-commissioned officer Liz Arzamendia, causing injuries to her face and left hand.
Due to this fact, Marín Cabrera was placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry. In addition, about 15 people were detained for working as car attendants or for not carrying identity documents during the controls carried out before, during and after the Paraguayan National Team’s match against the United States.

Minors without documents
On the other hand, the Police also detained several minors who were acting suspiciously in the downtown area, where thousands of people came to accompany the Albirroja party.
Chief Commissioner Gustavo Errecante highlighted that they were two young people who were in the crowd and said they did not remember their ID numbers. “And we have several cases of minors who are arriving from the lower areas, with the intention of committing acts of theft, wallets, cell phones, taking advantage of the crowd of people,” he highlighted.
