After controversy over the CIA, Maru Campos requests a meeting with Sheinbaum

Ciudad Juárez.- The governor of Chihuahua, the PAN member María Eugenia Campos Galvánreported that he requested a meeting with the president Claudia Sheinbaumto discuss the issue of the drug laboratory and the death of the American agents, who today, Monday, it was learned, belonged to the INC.

He added that this meeting also seeks to endorse the will of his administration to maintain permanent coordination.

The president’s statements were made within the framework of the 15th International Mining Conference in Chihuahua, where she assured that the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) works in a detailed report about what happened during the operation of the drug laboratory found on April 19, which will be presented “in the next few hours to the public.”

In his new message he expressed solidarity with the families of those who lost their lives in the different operations that have been carried out in the entity to combat crime.

In addition, he recognized the work and participation of the Armed Forces of the Mexican Army, as well as the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), during the operation that led to the dismantling of a synthetic drug laboratory.

He pointed out that the strategy implemented in a coordinated manner allowed the dismantling of one of the largest production points for methamphetamines and other substances in the country, which was located in the Sierra Tarahumara.

“This is a great achievement in the fight against drugs and drug trafficking,” said the head of the Executive.

On Sunday, the Chihuahua prosecutor’s office reported that after an operation where two large drug laboratories were seized, two agents from the United States Embassy died “when they were returning” from the operation, early Saturday morning, they explicitly stated.

On Monday, from the National Palace, President Sheinbaum said she was not informed about the operation by the embassy troops, thus generating a clash of versions between the state and the federation.

“We were not aware that there was direct work between the state of Chihuahua and personnel from the United States embassy in Mexico,” he stated.

Due to the facts, he claimed to have requested the information from the state government and also from the United States.

He reiterated that “there is a very well established framework of Americans who are dedicated to security work or US agencies that are in Mexico, they necessarily have to act under a protocol”, he concluded.

In the afternoon, prosecutor Jáuregui qualified his version, and said that in reality the agents were eight kilometers from the location of the seizure, and that they provided training in the handling of drones.

“She is right, it was never reported that there was participation of North American agents in the operation, because there were no North American agents in the operation that led to the seizure of the drug laboratory, perhaps one of the largest that has ever been located. Only agents from the State Investigation Agency (AEI) and Sedena participated in that operation,” he pointed out.

On Tuesday morning, The Washington Post revealed that the deceased were not only embassy employees, but CIA agents.

Consequently, President Sheinbaum raised her tone and confirmed that the prosecutor changed his version of events, which is why an investigation is underway.

“Yesterday the Chihuahua prosecutor changed his statement and we are investigating what these people were doing and what agency they were from. Until now the information we have is that yes, they were working together, let’s say it that way,” he said.

Likewise, he stated that if the state of Chihuahua maintains a collaboration agreement with the United States that involves operations in its territory, this could constitute a violation of the Constitution.

“So, the entire investigation has to be done by the Prosecutor’s Office to see if the Constitution or the National Security Law and that the authorities of the state of Chihuahua provide all the truthful information,” explained Sheinbaum.
