In Lithuanian figure skating, the historic season is over, but the elements are rolling even after the most important competitions.
On Thursday, the representative of the athletes, Laura Montvilaitė, announced that she had started an investigation into possible violations of the rights of athletes in the Lithuanian Skating Federation.
“The investigation has been started, taking into account the information received anonymously, as well as the official complaint submitted and the information that appeared in the public space,” said L. Montvilaitė.

- The representative of the athletes clarified that during the investigation, the information received by the representative is first examined, and the extent to which this material is related to the rights of the athletes is assessed. After that, the sports federation is approached, requesting to provide the necessary material for the investigation.
- “Currently, we will examine the procedures for providing information to athletes and clubs, the issues of the criteria for the formation of national teams and representing Lithuania – what are the established criteria and how are they observed, the issues of distribution of funding for athletes and their coaches,” said the representative of the athletes.
- More information is not being disclosed at the moment, the athletes’ representative is waiting for answers and materials from the Lithuanian Skating Federation and hopes that the information will be received next week.
- L. Montvilaitė indicated that usually the athlete’s representative, when conducting investigations, gets to know the material provided by the applicants, the information provided by the sports organization, and often has to verify this information, therefore in some cases meetings and witness interviews are held, and at the end of the investigation a decision is made, which establishes whether there was or was not a violation of the athletes’ rights.
“I’m very happy that someone understood the situation after the Olympic Games, what’s going on,” said Lilija Vanagienė, former long-term president of the Lithuanian Figure Skating Federation.
She herself congratulated V. Jasutis at the end of 2022, when the sports commentator and event organizer replaced her in the position of head of the federation, and L. Vanagienė moved to the position of director.
However, now L.Vanagienė accuses V.Jasutis not only of pushing positions in the federation, but also of violating sports criteria.
