Sabah Al-Numan, spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, said in a statement received by Al-Zaman yesterday, “The Prime Minister of the caretaker government, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, chaired the third regular meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security, where the overall security situation was discussed, the topics on the agenda were considered, and the necessary decisions were taken regarding them.” He added, “The meeting discussed reports on monitoring terrorist financing sources and importing anti-aircraft systems, in addition to neutralizing Iraq from the path of the regional conflict.” Stressing that (the government is continuing to protect the country’s sovereignty and establish security and stability through integrated security, administrative and diplomatic measures). Al-Numan explained, “The Council affirmed Iraq’s right to defend itself and prevent any attempt to target it or use its territory.” Pointing out (an emphasis on restricting weapons to the state and taking firm measures against parties outside the law). Stating that (the Council recommended taking security, military and legal measures to prevent any attack on neighboring countries from Iraqi territory, or targeting diplomatic missions, while prosecuting the perpetrators of these acts without exception). He pointed out that (any violation of the security and safety of diplomatic missions is unacceptable and against the law, and that the government will take strict measures against those involved). Emphasizing (considering targeting neighboring countries from inside Iraq a terrorist act, as well as any attack on missions operating in the country). He added, “The Council stressed holding accountable the elements involved in illegal acts and referring them to the judiciary, in addition to strengthening diplomatic efforts and intensifying coordination with neighboring countries to reduce tensions and consolidate regional stability.” He continued, “The recommendations also included enhancing the exchange of security information and unifying regional and international efforts to confront threats, while emphasizing that the territories of other countries would not be used to attack Iraq.” In a development, it was reported that a security force raided Abu Dara’s house after a judicial warrant was issued against him. A security source said yesterday that “a joint force carried out a raid on Abu Dara’s house, east of the capital, Baghdad, after an arrest warrant was issued against him, but he and his family members managed to escape.” He added, “The security force seized a huge pile of weapons and equipment inside the house, including light, medium, and heavy weapons, as well as various anti-personnel and anti-armour projectiles and missiles.” Pointing out that (the operation was carried out with the support of intelligence and federal police). For his part, the legal representative of the secretariat said yesterday that “the accusation centers on Abu Dara’s storming the building of the real estate department of the secretariat, and threatening citizens, employees, and members of the security guard, with the aim of forcing them to award one of the auctions in his favor,” as he put it. At the same time, the Ministry of Interior overthrew a drug dealer and seized 400,000 Captagon pills in his possession in a joint qualitative operation in Syria. A statement from the ministry received by Al-Zaman yesterday said: “Based on accurate information and an intelligence effort, the detachments of the General Directorate for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department in Syria, carried out a qualitative operation in the Al-Mayadeen area. Yesterday’s statement said that (the operation resulted in the arrest of one of the important suspects in drug trafficking and the seizure of 400,000 Captagon pills), noting that (during the implementation of the duty, a clash occurred, which resulted in the martyrdom of a member of the administration) Combating drugs on the Syrian side and wounding the accused who was fundamentally arrested with the seized materials.
