An elderly woman was hit while walking on Skógarveg in Fossvogin in Reykjavík at eight o’clock last night. The woman was taken seriously injured to the emergency department of Landspítal.
The accident was reported in the police diary this morning, where it was said that a pedestrian had been hit in postal code 103. Ásmundur Rúnar Gylfason, assistant superintendent of police, says that the woman was on the road when she was hit. He has no further information about her condition.
When asked if the driver is suspected of having been on the phone while driving, driving too fast or any other reasons for the accident, Ásmundur says the matter is under investigation. He does not have information on whether a statement has been taken from the driver.
