Doha – Qena:
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, in cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, announced the opening of applications for private sector companies working in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning to benefit from the project to support and qualify a specialized center for the recovery and recovery of refrigerant gases, within the framework of the State of Qatar’s commitment to implementing the requirements of the Montreal Protocol and the national plan for the gradual elimination of substances that deplete the ozone layer.

The Ministry called on companies wishing to benefit from the project to submit their applications through the designated electronic platform, and to complete all necessary requirements and documents, no later than Sunday, July 5, 2026.
The Ministry confirmed that the selection of the beneficiary company will be based on a comprehensive technical and administrative evaluation process carried out by a specialized committee, in coordination with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, with the aim of selecting one company that possesses the necessary capabilities to operate the refrigerant gas recovery center in accordance with the best internationally approved environmental and technical standards.
She explained that the evaluation criteria will include the company’s operational readiness, the efficiency of its available infrastructure, its technical and marketing plans, and its ability to manage retrieval and reclamation operations with high efficiency, in addition to a commitment to applying safety and quality standards, tracking and documentation systems, and periodic reports, in a way that ensures achieving the highest levels of efficiency and transparency in performance.
The Ministry indicated that the initiative comes within the framework of its ongoing efforts to enhance the role of the private sector as a major partner in protecting the environment and supporting the shift towards more sustainable practices, which contributes to reducing emissions of ozone-depleting gases and greenhouse gases, and promoting the principles of the circular economy by recycling and reusing refrigerant gases instead of disposing of them in ways that may harm the environment.
The Ministry indicated that application is available to companies that have a valid commercial or industrial license in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector, and that have practical experience of no less than three years in the field, with the need to submit an integrated business plan that includes operational and technical aspects, gas collection and recovery mechanisms, marketing plans, and the project’s financial model, in addition to performance indicators and risk management plans.
She said: The project represents a strategic step towards building an integrated national system for managing used refrigerant gases, by qualifying a private sector company to be an approved entity to recover and reclaim these gases in accordance with the best global environmental and industrial practices, in a way that supports the state’s efforts to reduce harmful emissions and preserve the environment.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change confirmed that this initiative embodies its commitment to strengthening the partnership with the private sector and expanding its role in achieving environmental sustainability goals, in line with the vision of the State of Qatar in building a more efficient and sustainable economy, and enhances its leading position regionally and internationally in the field of environmental protection and fulfillment of its global environmental obligations.
