Houston – DPA:
Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer returned from his international retirement, equaling a World Cup goalkeeping record on Sunday.
Through his first participation in this edition against Curacao, Neuer, 40 years old, the Bayern Munich goalkeeper, equaled the record recorded by French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, with 20 matches over the course of five World Cup tournaments since 2010.
Neuer, who won the 2014 World Cup, retired from international football after Germany’s exit in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, and was summoned by coach Julian Nagelsmann to participate in the World Cup.
