A major educational project in Samarkand and Bukhara: what makes ZARMED University stand out?

Video report for applicants from ZARMED University, where about 15,000 students are currently studying. Today, thousands of students are studying at the Bukhara and Samarkand campuses of ZARMED University, which operates on the basis of this initiative. The Kun.uz journalist visited both campuses of the university and learned how the educational process is organized, what opportunities are created for students, and what goals the university is working toward.

    From medical cluster to university

The history of the establishment of ZARMED University is related to the initiative started in 2021. The first campus of the university was established in 2022 in Bukhara, and in 2024, the Samarkand campus also began to operate.

The Samarkand campus is located in one of the central areas of the city and covers an area of 14,000 square meters. The campus has 100 auditoriums, laboratories, computer rooms, library and other infrastructural facilities for students. According to the university administration, the campus can accommodate up to 7,000 students at a time.

    Harmony of theory and practice

At the university, special attention is paid to combining theoretical knowledge with practice, especially in the field of medicine. Through the university clinic, students have the opportunity to get acquainted with the real medical environment, observe the activities of specialists, and practically strengthen the knowledge they have acquired during the educational process.

University representatives say that a future specialist should have not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical experience. Therefore, practical training is considered an important part of the educational system.

    About 20 areas except medicine

ZARMED University is not only a university specializing in medicine. Today, the university offers education in engineering, IT, economy, finance, philology, pedagogy, psychology and other fields. The university system is expanding with new specialties that meet the requirements of the times.

Various projects and organizations within the university function as a practice base for students. This will help young people studying in different fields to become familiar with real work processes.

    Practical lessons for students

During the acquaintance with the university, the journalist also took part in one-day trainings with tourism students. The lesson was organized in the form of practical training in the Registan square in Samarkand, not in the auditorium.

During the training, students learned about the economy of tourism, the culture of working with tourists, the role of guides in creating routes and creating the country’s image. They also had the opportunity to test their theoretical knowledge in practice by communicating with foreign tourists.

    Bukhara campus and grant programs

Bukhara branch, which is the first campus of ZARMED University, also has modern laboratories, anatomy rooms, computer classes and sports infrastructure. The university administration emphasizes that along with infrastructure development, it is also focusing on student support programs.

According to information, grants and scholarships were allocated to more than 300 students in the last academic year, for which more than 2 billion soums were allocated.

    Faculty capacity and student life

Today, there are more than 600 professors working on two campuses of the university. According to the representatives of the university, special attention is paid to attracting experienced specialists to ensure the quality of education.

Also, student life is not limited to classrooms. Forums, scientific olympiads, scientific conferences and cultural events are regularly organized at the university. The international student forum recently held at the Samarkand campus was one such initiative.

    Summary

A few days of observation may not be enough to draw a final conclusion about the university’s activities. This assessment is given primarily by graduates and their future results.

Nevertheless, today ZARMED University stands out as one of the higher education institutions that pay special attention to the creation of modern infrastructure, strengthening the capacity of professors and teachers, supporting students, and developing a practice-oriented educational system.

Detailed information about the university’s courses of study, admission processes, grant and scholarship programs can be obtained through official sources.
