Apartments for rent are currently the top priority for those looking for apartments, shows a current analysis by Willhaben with Marketagent. According to this, almost half of those surveyed prefer a rented apartment. Just over a third are or have recently been looking for a house to buy. A third are interested in owning a condominium.
The most popular size for condominiums is between 61 and 80 square meters, which is what 32 percent of those surveyed were looking for, and 28 percent are looking in the range of 81 to 100 m2.
The area sought for apartments for rent is significantly smaller: although the first place was the range 61 to 80 square meters (33 percent), this was followed by an apartment size of up to a maximum of 50 square meters (32 percent). The corresponding median value was around 70 square meters.
When asked about their dream property with complete freedom of choice, almost half of those surveyed in Austria (46%) answered with a house that has a garden. In second place is an apartment or a house by the water (15%), which is particularly attractive for respondents aged 40 and over. This is followed by a farm with seven percent, an attic apartment (5 percent), a castle (5 percent) and a loft (4 percent). Three percent chose an old apartment as their dream property.
70 percent rely on online real estate portals as a source of information. 87 percent of these people have searched for Willhaben at least once in the past six months. (ed.)
