Team Chelsea London qualified for the FA Cup final with a narrow 1-0 win over Leeds United at Wembley Stadium in front of 82,500 on Sunday night.
The only goal of the meeting was scored by the captain of the Londoners, the Argentinian Enzo Fernandez, who headed the ball into the net after a cross from Pedro Nieto (23).
Chelsea, led from the bench by interim coach Calum McFarlane, after the dismissal of Liam Rosenior, will have as their opponent in the final Manchester City (coached by Pep Guardiola), 2-1 winners over League Two side Southampton in the first semi-final of the competition on Saturday.
The London side will play their first FA Cup final since 2022 (when they were defeated by Liverpool) on May 16, against an opponent who has played in the last three finals and won the trophy in 2023.
Success in the FA Cup, the club’s oldest competition, would be a consolation for Chelsea this season as it secures a ticket to Europa Leaguewhich the Stamford Bridge group aren’t sure they can get through Premier Leaguewhere it currently ranks eighth.
