PARAMARIBO — Minister Stephen Tsang of Public Works and Spatial Planning (OWRO) attended a neighborhood meeting in Wanica-Northeast on Saturday. The minister had decided to register on his own initiative together with his staff. He did this after signals came to his attention that local residents had questions about infrastructure works and other matters affecting his department.
During the meeting, which was led by the neighborhood manager, the residents of the De Nieuwe Grond resort brought various bottlenecks to their attention. The focus was mainly on improving the drainage system and tackling the sand roads.
“As a direct result of this contact, the clean-up of the discharge along the Bosbesuilweg was immediately started on April 26.”
According to the minister, the priorities have now been identified. A plan is currently being developed to resolve the complaints as quickly as possible. The upcoming rainy season is explicitly taken into account. Tsang said he appreciated the opportunity to join in and hear the community’s concerns directly.
The minister also announced that a follow-up visit will take place to monitor progress. As a direct result of this contact, the cleaning up of the discharge along the Bosbesuilweg was immediately started on April 26, so that the water drainage in the area is immediately improved.
