Do not wipe your face with a towel. Here’s why

You might think that the toilet is the germiest object in your home, but it’s not. In fact, it’s the towels that are filled with the most bacteria, and if you’re using them to wipe your face, you could be doing your skin a disservice.

Although drying your face with a towel seems like the most logical thing to do, it can actually do more harm than good.

“Bright Side” shows the reasons why you shouldn’t use towels anymore and what to choose instead.

    It can give you acne.

Drying your face with the same towel you use to dry your body can damage your skin more than you think. Towels are great traps for bacteria because we usually keep them in the bathroom, where the air is moist and creates a perfect environment for bacteria to grow.

When you rub the towel on your face, you’re transferring all these bacteria directly to your skin, which can eventually lead to clogged pores. Even if you’re using a special face towel, chances are you’re not washing it every day, and unwanted bacteria can still find its way onto your skin.

    Your skin may age faster.

Cloth towels are very harsh on the face, and using them makes it vulnerable to infections and wrinkles. The more you wash the towels, the fabric of them can become rough, damaging your skin.

    May irritate the skin.

If you have sensitive skin, using towels is not the best option to dry your face. Because most towel fabrics can be too harsh, wiping your face with them can result in skin redness and irritation.

It can make the skin oily.

It may sound counterintuitive, but drying out your skin can actually make it more oily.

Since towels can strip the natural oils the skin needs to stay healthy, the oil glands below the surface of the skin will need to produce more oil to balance the dryness, which will result in excessively oily skin.

How to dry your face without a towel?

Instead of touching your face with a towel, let the air do its work. Air drying is more hygienic and gentle on the skin, and although it takes more time, the skin will thank you for it.

    • Wash your face as usual.
Allow the skin to dry naturally.
      Put your favorite moisturizing cream./Panorama
