When a broadcast of that size has to be planned, it is important that everyone involved has the same understanding of the process. Therefore, the hosts also have a lot to discuss.
– Johannes and I in no way want there to be empty breaks, and neither do the editors. That’s why we are rehearsing now, and this afternoon we also have a dress rehearsal, says Kimmernaq Kjeldsen and continues.
– Many others have been preparing in recent months, while we have been preparing together in recent weeks.
Cancer that affects us all
Kimmernaq Kjeldsen’s co-host is Johannes Sigurdsen, also known as “Sigu”. He is known as a musician, but must try his hand at the role of TV host for the first time. That is why he is also looking forward to tonight’s broadcast.
– It’s exciting, just like when I started playing music. But because I am a teacher, I try to keep an overview, says Johannes Sigurdsen »Sigu«.
The evening’s collection is about people affected by cancer. Part of the profit from Neriuffiit Kattuffiat’s collection goes, among other things, to scholarships for cancer victims.

In Greenland, around 250 people are diagnosed with cancer each year. Therefore, the disease is something that many have either experienced themselves or are close to in their lives through family and friends.
Johannes Sigurdsen himself has several relatives who have been affected by cancer. That’s why tonight’s big collection also means something special to him.
– It means a lot to me. Several in my family have died of cancer. The closest person I have lost to cancer is my brother, he says.
Many musicians
Tonight’s big collection is organized differently than before, as it is not broadcast from the foyer in Katuaq, but from the great hall.

There will also be a call center during the broadcast. Those who wish to donate more than DKK 200 can call 36 37 38. Among those who answer the calls, there will also be famous people.
Several musicians will perform during the evening. Among others Qeqquaq, Nahome, Johannes and Pipaluk as well as Uummatip Nipaa. The hosts therefore hope that many will follow along and support the large collection.
– We will have a light, cozy and warm evening. We broadcast from Katuaq’s great hall, just like in the old days with “Aliikkusiarfik” (KNR’s former entertainment program). I am very much looking forward to it, says Kimmernaq Kjeldsen.
– I hope that everything goes as it should and as planned tonight. That there will be room for both peace, joy and sorrow, says Johannes Sigurdsen “Sigu”.
At last year’s collection for the benefit of cancer patients, just over five million kroner was collected. Tonight, it will be revealed how much this year’s collection has brought in.
