World Bank report – what it says about economic growth, poverty and high food prices

The World Bank Group has published the Regular Economic Report for the Western Balkans. It also includes Kosovo, where data about the economic situation in this country has been published.
The report states that, “increasing price pressures are weighing down activity by eroding purchasing power, especially for the most vulnerable”.
It is also said that economic growth is expected to remain at 3.6 percent for 2026 and average around its potential of 3.8 percent in the medium term.
In the report, it is added that poverty is expected to continue its decline, but high food prices remain “an important risk”.
“Poverty is projected to continue to decline, but higher food prices remain a significant risk, as food accounts for 64 percent of total consumption for the poorest 10 percent of the population,” the report said.
