Milo recounts the behind-the-scenes: How they convinced Thaci to sign the Rambouillet Agreement

The former Foreign Minister of Albania, Paskal Milo, has spoken about the reports and communications he had during the war in Kosovo with the former American ambassador Christopher Hill, as well as about his role in the Rambuje process.
Invited to the show “Now” with Erla Mëhilli on Euronews Albania, Milo said that at that time he had frequent contacts with Hilli, including phone calls and ongoing discussions regarding the position of the Government of Albania.
According to him, the cooperation with Hill and the former US Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, had been important in the efforts to convince the Kosovo delegation to sign the Rambouillet Agreement.
“I had many contacts with Ambassador Hill, many phone calls and many discussions. I was the Foreign Minister of Albania at that time and I was also the representative of Albania in Rambuje. Ambassador Hill, who spoke here, probably called me once every two days, wherever I was, to hear what the Albanian Government was thinking”, said Milo.
He said that at one point he was urgently called to travel to Rambouillet, at the request of Hill and Albright.
“They took me urgently and, with his and Mrs. Albright’s insistence, I went to Rambuje to help the American delegation convince the Kosovo Albanian delegation and, in particular, Mr. Thaçi, to sign the agreement,” he declared.
Milo said that, given the close cooperation he had with Hill during that time, he would expect the former US diplomat to speak more openly today about those developments.
“Therefore, Mr. Hill, I don’t know if he saw us here or not. At least he should have remembered, as a diplomat, a very useful cooperation that we had at that time and so many talks, contacts and discussions with him,” said Milo.
“And therefore, remembering those conversations I had with Mr. Hill and discussions even in the most delicate moments, I would definitely expect now that he has retired from active diplomatic service, that he would be more open,” he added.
