PARAMARIBO — Youth Affairs of the Suriname Police Force has placed the fourteen-year-old RM in custody after consultation with the Public Prosecution Service. The teenager had been reported by his own mother.
The woman told the police that her son had stolen a large amount of money and gold jewelry from her and the grandmother at various times from January 2026 until the time of reporting. He committed the theft after he became interested in a racing moped that nineteen-year-old PS was going to sell to him.
Via WhatsAppmessages, the two boys made different agreements about what RM had to give in exchange to acquire the moped. The fourteen-year-old brought the stolen jewelry to PS, which in turn sold it. He then spent the money on his own car. Just like RM, PS was also arrested by the Youth Affairs police.
