PARAMARIBO — It Suriname Business Forum (SBF) will hold the conference ‘Entrepreneurship in a modern Suriname’ on December 7. On that day, participants from government, the business community, the financial sector, knowledge institutions and international partners will discuss how Suriname can build a strong and resilient local SME segment (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises).
With Granmorgu’s oil and gas production in sight around 2028, the SBF wants to ensure that local entrepreneurs also benefit from the opportunities that present themselves. The conference covers four themes: entrepreneurship education; taxation, financing and investments; institutions, legislation and governance and sectoral development. The results are recorded in a roadmap for entrepreneurship in modern Suriname.
Since 2006, the SBF has been a platform for dialogue and cooperation between government, business and trade unions, aimed at a favorable business climate and sustainable economic development of Suriname. The anniversary year was officially launched on Wednesday with a reception in the garden of Residence Inn with the theme ‘Entrepreneurship in the service of sustainable development of a modern Suriname’. Another series of activities will be held under the motto ‘Sranan Kon’ makandra’.
