The police take security measures for the march in the square, several main roads are blocked for traffic

The Kosovo Police said that it has taken the necessary measures to provide security for the March for Freedom that will be held today in the main squares of Pristina in support of the former leaders of the KLA, four days before the announcement of the decision.
“Kosovo Police, in connection with the peaceful solidarity march, which will be held today at 14:00, in the main squares: ‘Zahir Pajaziti’, ‘Mother Teresa’ and ‘Skënderbeu’, in order to guarantee the safety of the participants in the march, citizens and other participants in the traffic, has taken the necessary police measures to provide security, maintain public peace and order and the smooth running of the march before, during and until the end of the march”.
For this march, the police also warned of the blocking of some main roads of the capital, while saying that, if necessary, it is possible to close others during the day.
“According to police planning, in order to ensure the progress of the march, the roads that will be blocked for traffic in the capital are: Agim Ramadani, Luan Haradinaj and Enver Zymberi, but depending on the operational need, there may be other roads where traffic can be temporarily interrupted”.
The Kosovo Police said that according to the law on public gatherings, they recognize the right of citizens to free expression through peaceful gatherings and marches and, according to their official duties, they will commit to providing security for all citizens, so that the progress of the civic march passes smoothly and without incident.
“Due to the development of the march and the movement of the participants, there will be restrictions or temporary interruptions of traffic on the roads affected by the activity, therefore the Police has also foreseen the engagement of police traffic patrol units, in case of the need for traffic reorientation on alternative roads”.
The Kosovo Police called on citizens and participants to respect the instructions of the police officers, to show caution and to contribute to the activity taking place in a calm and safe manner.
