According to him, the service life of the KazSat-3 satellite will end in 2029, and if the state continues to focus on foreign providers, this carries risks for national security.
He raised this issue in his parliamentary request addressed to the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiev.
— The emphasis on the use of StarLink and OneWeb systems as alternatives to domestic satellites carries direct risks for the country’s sovereignty. The dependence of critical communications infrastructure on foreign providers outside the jurisdiction of the Republic of Kazakhstan is unacceptable in the current geopolitical situation,” he noted.
The deputy also criticized the economic justification for refusing to introduce satellite Internet in the new KazSat project.
— The refusal to introduce the satellite Internet function in the new project of our domestic satellite was justified only by the cost of 153 billion tenge without providing an in-depth comparative analysis. Lost profits and long-term costs of renting foreign communication channels are not taken into account,” the request says.
Therefore, the Majilisman asks the government to consider the parameters of the KazSat-3R project, taking into account the priority of national security and the need for complete autonomy of strategic communication channels.
Earlier it was reported that the invitation to participate in the competition for the creation of a new Kazakh communications satellite “KazSat-3R” responded 14 manufacturing companies of space technology, including 2 Kazakh and 12 foreign.
