ECAB Aspiring Leaders Scholarship
Last year, we launched the ECAB Aspiring Leaders Scholarship to help develop the next generation of leaders in Antigua & Barbuda.
The scholarship covered full tuition for the entire three-year duration of undergraduate studies at The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus.
Individuals aged 17 to 25 who were interested in pursuing their first degree in the School of Business & Management or the School of Science & Artificial Intelligence were invited to apply.
Following a competitive selection process, Tajhere Browne emerged as the scholarship recipient. We are incredibly proud of his achievements, including earning a place on the Honour Roll during his first semester.
While we anticipated celebrating many more success stories through this initiative, the Government of Antigua & Barbuda has confirmed that tuition at UWI Five Islands Campus for most degree programmes, including those covered by the scholarship, will now be free of charge to those pursuing a first degree. We welcome this important development, as we firmly believe that education is a transformative tool that should be accessible to all. However, this announcement has also changed the purpose and relevance of our scholarship programme.
As a result, we will discontinue the ECAB Aspiring Leaders Scholarship. Nevertheless, our commitment to youth development, education, and community support remains unwavering.
We will continue to honour other aspects of our scholarship with Tajhere Browne.
Additionally, for the third consecutive year, we are proud to sponsor the Mr. and Miss Teenage Pageant as part of this year’s Carnival celebrations, and we look forward to introducing additional initiatives that will continue to nurture and empower the aspiring leaders of Antigua & Barbuda.
