Today marks Canada Day, and on this occasion, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, sent warm congratulations and best wishes to the Governor General of Canada, Ms. Louise Arbour, and the people of the country.
Taking this opportunity, the Head of State wished Ms. Louise Arbour good health, happiness, and well-being, and the people of Canada peace, continued progress, and prosperity, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
Canada Day has been celebrated since July 1, 1867, when the British North America Act (now the Constitution Act, 1867) came into force, uniting the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a single state—the Dominion of Canada.
