Samoa’s Acting Police Commissioner Leiataua Samuelu Afamasaga confirmed Samoa’s official immigration records has Anthony Pele departing Samoa on the 2nd of February 2023.
“O Anthony Pele i faamaumauga a le Immigration, na gata lona alu ese atu mai Samoa nei i le aso 2 o Fepuari 2023..”
“Ua uma fo’i ona matou talanoa ma le tama ma lona uso lea na omai mai fafo..”
In a press conferece with local media this week, the Acting Commissioner said Samoa Police have spoken with Anthony Pele’s family members, including relatives who recently arrived from overseas.
He confirms that at present, there is nothing on record with Immigration Authorities indicating that Anthony Pele has entered Samoa since he departed in February 2023.
“Ae o le taimi nei, i faamaumauga a le Immigration, e le o iai se isi iinei.”
Pele was officially placed at the top of the New South Wales Police Force “Most Wanted” list after allegedly killing Ahmed Al-Azzam in July 2023 when rounds of bullets were fired into cars on a street in Greenacre, in Sydney’s southwest.
Australian detectives allege that Pele, 22 at the time, was the principal gunman in the ambush and fleed the country soon after.

Ahmed Al Azzam, 25, died in hospital three days after he was found seriously injured in his parked car following the shooting.
According to Austrian Police, it was a tragic case of mistaken identity, mistaking the victim for a rival Comanchero bikie gang member.

Two other people, a 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, were wounded in a separate car parked about 50 metres away, with the man sustaining life-altering spinal injuries.
This week Samoa Police say there is no formal request to detain Anthony Pele if he should be located in Samoa, however, Samoa is well aware of his wanted status and will not remain inactive.
E lē o iai se tusi official mai ai se talosaga faapitoa mai ia matou.. e faapea mai ai, e arrest atu pe a maua iinei.”

Commissioner Leiataua also addressed concerns raised by a photograph circulated on social media. He said the image in question was an old photograph that had been posted on Instagram in 2024.
