PARAMARIBO — The 1.5-year-old RS tragically died on Monday after falling into a bucket filled with water at the Laarwijk plantation. The police from Domburg station found the child lifeless upon arrival. A doctor then officially diagnosed death.
The preliminary police investigation showed that the father was home with his four children at the time. At an unattended moment, the toddler allegedly went to the kitchen and ended up in the bucket of water. When the father later went to the kitchen, he found the child with his head in the bucket and his legs up.
However, father’s resuscitation attempts were to no avail. After consultation with the Public Prosecution Service, RS’s body was handed over to the relatives. The Domburg police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
