During the 27th consecutive protest in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, a female protester read again the main demands of the citizen movement against the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama.
She emphasized that the main demand remains the immediate and non-negotiable resignation of the prime minister and the government.
According to her, the protesters also demand the creation of a transitional, non-partisan, technical government with a 12-month mandate, as well as a broad package of constitutional changes.
Among the other essential requirements remains the limitation of the prime minister’s mandate to no more than two terms during his political life, as well as the cancellation of changes in the law on protected areas, cultural heritage, the repeal of the Mountain Package and the legal framework for strategic investments.
Protester: This popular and peaceful protest demands the following:
The non-negotiable resignation of the prime minister and the government.
The creation of a transitional technical government, non-partisan and with a 12-month mandate.
Constitutional amendments, where all Albanian citizens are equal before the law, as well as their approval by popular referendum, including among others: the amendment of the Electoral Code, the amendment of the law on the financing of political parties and various organizations, the limitation of exercising the office of prime minister to no more than two mandates, full or partial, during the entire political life of an individual.
At the same time, we demand the cancellation of the changes made in the law on protected areas, the cancellation of the changes made in the law on cultural heritage, the cancellation of the Mountain Package, as well as the cancellation of the status and legal framework for strategic investments.
A new social contract between citizens and the state, which will be drawn up after consultation with intellectuals, technical experts and non-partisan citizens, proposed by the protest square. These are our clear, legitimate and non-negotiable demands. We remain determined to carry this peaceful protest to its realization.
