
The head of the Carpet Weaving Association of this province, Mohammad Arif, told Bakhtar News Agency that last year, 570 factories were operating in this province, but with the return of refugees from neighboring countries, 115 new factories were also activated and this industry has grown by 20 percent.
He added that most of these factories operate in Dehna Ghori, Dand Ghori, Doshi and the surrounding areas of Pulkhamri city.
According to the local officials, the carpets produced in this province, which are of high quality, are exported to some foreign countries and are sold from 15 to 300 dollars per square meter.
He asked the relevant agencies to pay more attention to the support of carpet weavers for further growth and strengthening of this industry.
It should be noted that the carpet weaving industry is one of Afghanistan’s most important export industries and provides income to thousands of families.
