Today is Thursday 4th of Cancer 1405, the 10th day of Muharram 1448 AH, Ashura of Hosseini and the martyrdom of Imam Hossein (AS) and his companions.
The 10th day of Muharram is the martyrdom anniversary of the leader of the martyrs, Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), the third Imam of Shiites, who was martyred on the 10th of Muharram 61 AH in Karbala at the age of 57.
Speaking on the day of the Karbala incident and on the way from Makkah to Karbala, Imam Hussain (a.s.) clearly emphasized until his martyrdom: “What I mean by the movement is to disgrace the anti-Islamic government of Yazid, to enjoin the good and forbid the evil, and to stand against oppression and tyranny, and there is no other goal than supporting the Holy Quran and keeping alive the religion of pure Muhammadan Islam.”
This was the mission that Almighty God entrusted to Imam Hussain (a.s.), and for this mission, he was martyred by the Yazidis at the noon of Ashura along with his faithful companions after the noon prayer.
