MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) – Chairman of the State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov explained what results the Forum of Regions produces and talked about plans for this year at the panel session “Regional development: Efficiency evaluation, achievement of priorities and goals, facilitating the growth of economic potential” during the 13th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, which is taking place at the Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ, BelTA has learned.
Vasily Gerasimov emphasized that the Forum of Regions serves as an effective platform that expands every year, attracting an increasingly larger number of participants from various regions.
The panel session focusing on efficiency evaluation and the achievement of priorities brought together the leadership of Belarus’ State Control Committee, the Accounts Chamber of Russia, heads of oblast branches of the State Control Committee, heads of 13 control and oversight bodies of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, and other officials. The chairman noted that these regions maintain close cooperation with the committee.
He also talked about recent results of an external audit into the execution of the Union State of Belarus and Russia budget, which had been conducted by the State Control Committee and the Accounts Chamber of Russia. “Today we discussed changing the evaluation vector from the volume to the efficiency of expenses. We will evaluate what our states have actually received from the invested funds,” Vasily Gerasimov added.
Apart from that, the audit bodies implement joint projects. “We have recently launched a degree in state audit at Belarusian State University. We are currently moving toward cooperation with the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, and our students will receive two diplomas – a Belarusian one and a Russian one,” the chairman noted.
Agreements on cooperation between the state control committees of Belarus’ oblasts of and six control bodies of Russia’s constituent entities will also be signed on the sidelines of the forum.
The 13th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia is taking place in Minsk and Minsk Oblast on 25-26 June. Panel sessions of the forum, an expert session, and a session of the Committee for Standardization and Quality of the Union State of Belarus and Russia are scheduled for the first day, 25 June. Over the years the forum has acquired the status of a traditional dialogue platform for representatives of government bodies and business communities of Russia and Belarus. The organizers of the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia are the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
